The community's been waiting like a year and a half already (and even longer for a stable version of the game), so we certainly know how to be patient. Street Fighter X Tekken currently isn't available for any modern system since it's not an Xbox backwards compatible title, so PC would be the only place for people to pick up the game now. Just about a year ago, there were indications of a new update coming to the Capcom and Bandai Namco fighting game crossover, but obviously nothing ever came of that yet.Ĭonsidering Capcom still has the same notice up on the game's Steam page about the temporary disabled purchase option and their investigation, it seems at least Capcom is planning to get to it at some point. If Capcom were to have the same timeline for Street Fighter X Tekken, that means it could finally be returning to Steam in just a week or two, but let's not go celebrating yet. What else is quite interesting is that Resident Evil 5 saw very similar server activity almost exactly 1 month before the GFWL removal update went live. The Steam DB website currently lists SFxT as having received some interesting changes to the game's main files on the server earlier this month on February 6, 2023. Out of those remaining games, SFxT appears that it should hopefully be second in line after RE5 to receive an update to completely and finally remove GFWL from the equation. On top of Street Fighter X Tekken, other Capcom titles from the era like Lost Planet 2 and Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City also remain unavailable to purchase on Steam due to GFWL. While Resident Evil 5 was Capcom's largest game still impacted by the GFWL shutdown, and therefore the highest priority to fix, it certainly was not the only one still hurting after all this time. They didn't just stop there, however, as the developers also managed to enable split screen co-op support to the PC version, which the players certainly appreciate.
On Monday of this week, February 27, Resident Evil 5 received its first real update in years, and it was a pretty sizable one.Ĭapcom managed to finally remove all Games for Windows Live support, so it'll no longer ask you to download a client that no longer exists and hopefully means the game will run properly or even better without it.
